Fur Sale

Hello fellow trappers, this is Justin Rogers with the MS Trappers Association, and I hope all of
you had a fun and successful trapping season this past year. With that being said, it is now once again that time of year to cash in on the fruits of your labor. The annual fur sale of the MS Trappers
Association is set for February 23, 2019 in Kosciusko, MS at the Attala County Coliseum and the we hope this will be a great year. For those that may have not attended in the past let me give you a quick rundown on what you can expect.

Check in times for fur will began around 7:30-8:00 am at the coliseum. There will be NO FRIDAY NIGHT CHECK IN this year. MTA members will be on hand to assist trappers in any way they can. You must be a member in good standing to sell fur. If you are not currently a member or if it is time to renew, people will be on hand to assist you will that. There will also be wardens with the MDWFP on hand to apply cities tags on otter and bobcats. The sale should start somewhere around 10 am.

We have a great list of buyers lined up this year, some old familiar faces along with some new
ones. I recently talked with a gentleman that attended a recent fur sale in Arkansas and he said he saw prices on beaver, gray fox, otter, and cats higher than what he has seen in the past year. Hopefully we will see that trend continue. There has even been rumors about raccoon demand increasing in the near future. Of course, only time will tell.

There will be venders on hand to supply you with any trapping supplies that you may need to
finish out the season with or to get a jump start on next year. Also, this year as a fund raiser, we will be selling raffle tickets on a Heritage 22 LR pistol to be given away at the start of the auction. This is a great trapline gun and will last many trapping seasons strapped to your side. There may possibly be other items available to be auctioned off during the sale.

Even if you do not have any fur to sell, we invite you to come and be a part of this event.
Refreshments will be available, as well as great trapping conversation with some of the best in the
trapping trade. We hope to see you there.

The Trappers Post

Trapper’s Post provides in-depth articles with detailed information and clear photos and illustrations, to help readers become more effective trappers. Some articles are by recognized experts, others are by excellent trappers known only to a handful of people. As Bill Nelson said, “Some of the best trappers in the country never saw their names in print.” They are now, in our pages. So are regular trappers, who have valuable observations and stories to share.

Trapper’s Post keeps you current with changes in equipment, methods, the fur market, legislation, and more.

The Mississippi Trappers Association reserves the right to reject any and all applicants.
